My yahoo mail got hacked and spammed
I am already quite careful, by unfortunately, I become the victim of the an email spam, and it sent spam to all people in my contact list. 😦
It contains the content:
“wow this is intense you should give it a look …”
or
“this is pretty amazing you should give it a look …”
or any thing similar.
There should be a law to put those scum to jail and forbidden to use Internet forever.
If you become the unfortunately victim, the advice from Viet’s blog and Yahoo help: What to do if your account is sending spam? are helpful.
In summary:
1. Change your password immediately.
2. Reviewing Your Alternate Email Address Information
3. If your alternate email address has been changed. Remove the suspected address and change your password again.
And don’t forget to inform your friends in your contact list that you are a victim and ask them not to click on the link, if they clicked, ask them to change password immediately.

Running VAX/VMS Under Linux Using SIMH
Recently I am playing with OpenVMS with SIMH. The document at Running VAX/VMS Under Linux Using SIMH greatly helps me for the installation and setup.
A few things changed since the document written.
First the latest code for SIMH could be retrieve from SIMH at GitHub. It helps me to compile on Slackware64 without problem.
Second, adding “set cpu idle” in the vax.ini file will greatly reduce the CPU usage.

disable console beep
Source from www.thinkwiki.org.
1. disable console beeps in /etc/inputrc (change with your favourite editor, should work on all distributions)
# do not bell on tab-completion set bell-style none
2. Or make bash tab-completion less beepy, by editing /etc/inputrc (or ~/.inputrc). Add:
# Show all if ambigious. set show-all-if-ambiguous on
Currently using the 2nd setting.

LXTerminal default geometry
It defaults to 80×24 and has no way to save it as a preference. Latter I found out that it uses libvte, and change the definition in /usr/share/vte/termcap/xterm
of
:co#80:it#8:li#24:\
to
:co#80:it#8:li#25:\
Will make it always open in 80×25.

First week with LXDE
As my aged laptop feels quite slow for XFCE, I decided to test out LXDE again. I used the pre-build packages from http://ponce.cc/slackware/slackware-13.37/lxde/. So far so good, I used the LXDE without the pcmanfm (I don’t like the way it manage my desktop, and I never feel the need to put stuff on my root window except for background image), it response better than XFCE on my ThinkPad R40 laptop.
